Purpose of the this commission:
The mission of the parish life commission is to support the parish in its building of community through hospitality and pastoral care.
The Parish life Committee is responsible to the Parish Council. It reports regularly to the council through liasons to the council. This commission collaborates closely with parish staff and key volunteers who are traditionally the first to know of emerging trends and of new families.
The Parish Life Committee should work closely with the Parish Stewardship Commission in their efforts to involve all members in the mission of Christ through a sharing of time, talent and treasure. The two should work closely on both events to f hospitality and of engagement of members in ministry and parish support.
Reponsibilties of the Parish Life Committee are in the areas of:
> Hospitality, working closely with staff and members to identify and welcome and support individuals new to the parish and long time members such as
- Welcoming coffee / pastry reception after 10 AM Mass in June.
- Two soup / sandwich card parties a year, goal is to include new parishioners, also Ash Wednesday meatless soup supper
- Cooperating with Religious Education and Youth Ministry events as needed.
- Coordination of an all parish picnic in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus.
- Coordination with majoy parish celebrations and festivals.
- Assist the parish council in developing an annual budget for the committee
- Assisting with Commitment Sundays and Ministry Fairs.
Committee meetings are scheduled 4-5 evenings a year at 7:00pm in the parish hall generally three weeks before a scheduled activity.
Special skills are not needed for this committee other than a desire to work together for the spiritual good of our parish.
Chairpoerson term of office shall be two years.
